Convensa completes the beam erection work on the viaduct over the river Andarax (Almeria)

Convensa has completed the beam erection works on the viaduct over the river Andarax. The viaduct is 1,414 meters long and is the longest in the province of Almeria. This project is part of the Nijar-Rio Andarax section that Convensa is currently executing. This section is part of the high-speed railway corridor that will link the cities of Murcia and Almeria in the future, as part of the Mediterranean Corridor project.

The viaduct over the Andarax river has 43 spans, of which 40 spans are 32 metres long and cross the Andarax riverbed by means of three spans of 40 metres, 54 metres and 40 metres. The type of girder is a prefabricated precast box girder with a constant depth of 2.40 metres, with a 7-metre long gusset on each side of the pier and a variable depth in the areas where the spans are longer than 40 metres.

In addition to the viaduct over the River Andarax, the Nijar-Rio Andarax section has 15 more viaducts, 9 overpasses, 4 subways, 60 drainage works and the construction of the 878-metre Viator tunnel, currently being executed using the traditional Madrid method, also known as the Belgian method.

Convensa is making progress in the execution of the project, reaching 70% completion.
